The ending killed me. Can anyone explain why it had to end that way? I was so involved with the series it devastated me.

Did the author forget about Lena's abduction, torture, and rape from Blindsighted?? How is that never mentioned AT ALL in this book that's all about how screwed up Lena's past is?
