Is this one of those sequels that a reader of "The Forever War" might be better off not reading? Or at the very least it's not necessary? I'm thinking like the second 2 books in Hyperion series, that didn't really add anything to the story of the first 2.

Why is this characterized as “The Forever War #2”? Isn't it №3 in the series?

This is not a sequel so I don't think it is correct to call it #2 or #3. As to why: I think it is just a mistake on Goodreads. PS I know this is an old question but I think future readers will benefit from the answer.(less)
