Josephine Briggs Somewhat yes, but different. The characters in this book are grown men.

Can anyone explain the French names to me? Why is Paul just Monsieur Paul and not Monsieur de Comte? Is de Gue a middle name? I assume that Comte/Comtesse are titles rather than surnames but it seems strange to call Jean, Mr The Count.

Paul is younger than Jean so he doesn't get the title.
