There is so much education in this book, I would't say no if my kid wanted to read it. I wouldn't choose it to read to a first-grader.(less)

I never read dog books (or animal books) for fear of them making me cry with some tragedy or something in them. Will this book do the same to me? This is a serious question, unfortunately.
