This is my first Koontz. I'm only a few chapters in, but I'm wondering if I should throw in the towel. I'm feeling the same combination of annoyance and nausea that I had watching Odd Thomas. I think the problem may be that I'm a cat person, and this book stinks of dog. Does that make sense to any Koontz fans out there who aren't dog people? It's like this book was written by Mr. Peanut Butter wearing his glasses.

He's definitely a dog guy, and just once I want him to write a cat with the same affection. You should read Velocity if you want Koontz at his best and with the least amount of dog.(less)

Wise Cat Much longer than it needed to be, but I was never bored. Good suspense and character development. Still, it has quite a bit of depravity in it even for a novel. TW: <spoiler>It has rape, suicide attempt and murder---the victims were "programmed" to either commit these things to others or to themselves. Also anyone seeing a mental health professional might want to think twice about reading this.</spoiler>(less)
