What exactly was wrong with Addison's face and hands? Was it a condition that has a name? Apparently his Father and Grandfather had the same condition. I'm trying to imagine what could evoke such a violent reaction in other people.

It made all of their wrong doings come to light and showed them how they made others feel w/ their bad actions. (less)

I don't know why nobody is commenting on this on the Q&A or the reviews, but doesn't it bother anyone that Addison's deformity is so very very vague, not to mention unbelieveable? I can not imagine any kind of hideousness to have such an impact. I've enjoyed a few older Koontz novels and now tried a more recent one. I expected the very familiar storyline I am used to, but I can't say I like it so far.

I have a couple of questions on things that just confused me: 1) who or what were the clears/fogs? 2) how did the pure people come to be born and are there more of them in the world? 3) What is the deal with the marionettes? Were they possessed or was it all in their heads?

I'm listening to this on audible and I'm only about 1/3 of the way through. I have been zoning out and missing large sections. I don't know if this is due to having a lot on my mind or if the book is just boring, but it has left me with a question. Does the book ever actually describe Addison's appearance? Did it already do so and I just missed it while zoned out or is it being withheld for a reason?
