What is the appropriate age range for this series? A friend just gifted the whole series to my 8yo son. It's surprisingly tough to find info about these books.

Austin I would say about middle school age i.e. 10-14. They might be a bit too wordy for an 8 year old unless he reads at a pretty high level.
