It assumes that you would know that babies are usually conceived by a couple, in order to understand why many of the women are anxious and worried about finding themselves unexpectedly pregnant. I think the main issues of appropriateness are the children’s violence and lack of empathy, to be honest. It’s an excellent book that raises lots and lots of interesting questions, but I probably wouldn’t give it to a ten year-old. Twelve would be fine though, I should think.(less)
