When Aine first tries to arrange Eilish's departure, it is clear she is working with someone connected to the regime to do this, so their passage would have neen easier than what they need to do later in the book. Simon ends up in Canada, while Eilish's options are a refugee camp in Northern Ireland or being people-smuggled to mainland UK.(less)
