I found it essential to be reading both together. In some ways Cunningham's Hours is simpler in style; but because it mixes three different central female characters in three different places and times it is structurally complex.(less)

I wonder if my question relates to yours? Is it the publication date or the text that seems different?
My friend said her Kindle (a free copy, I think) was set up "all crazy." She sent a screen shot (p. 8 in hers, pp. 6-7 in my book); not only were sentences laid out oddly but many words were changed-- as if translated to another language then back to English by machine. It barely made sense. No wonder she found it hard going.(less)
