I really don't understand why this book has gotten such high overall ratings. SO, to those of you who, like me, were sorely disappointed by this book/series: do you have any recommendations for similar books or series that are done better? (I've already read the Sookie Stackhouse books and The Hallows series, so anything aside from those?)

Another one that is highly underrated is the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep. I stopped the Anita Blake series 7 and a half books in. I just couldn't do it anymore. (less)
