I think it refrained from making a judgement at all but simply presented all ethnic/racial groups as people, flawed in some ways, strong in others, each group working within their cultural and temporal spheres. I think in some way the Native Americans come off as more dignified than the white settlers, and certainly more than French ones. But, again, I feel somewhat unqualified to speak to it.(less)
