I enjoyed Flight Behavior and felt it struck a nice balance between science and story. How did other readers feel about this balance? Was there enough science? Too much? Did you skip through the science to get to the story? Or the other way around? My books also integrate science into the story so I am interested in what other readers thought.

I appreciated the sociological insights the most.... how/why some people can doubt climate change and resist scientific information. The book increased my understanding of those who don't think as I do.(less)

I was disappointed in this book. I'm sorry I chose it for one of my book clubs. Thought there was WAY too much science. If Kingsolver wants to write a book about global warming, then she should do a work of non-fiction, IMHO. I have been enjoying her more recent works less and less -- oh, for another "Prodigal Summer" or "Poisonwood Bible". Anyone feel the same?

Who can actually solve the problem of a unique kind of butterflies that are decreasing in number an have no place to hybernate? Is it just a hypothesis the author shows us - or is it a matter of scientific concern /can we help the butterflies find their way home/?

Events in Mexico affecting these butterfly populations are real. It highlights a very real scientific concern. Nobody can actually solve the problem of the butterflies. Their habitat is being destroyed. It may well be too late for them.
We can stop putting carbon into the air, and concentrate on putting carbon into the soil, where it belongs. Stabilise our environment, and hope that other creatures don't have to deal with similar disruption to their way of life.
Stop burning, start planting. Not easy, but vital.(less)
