I just finished this book, which I enjoy too much. At the end I could not understand Tania' story... who is she? I felt like in that story are a prize that the author gives to the reader, a clue of the book but I have been thinking about it and I do not get it... someone, please...

I haven't read any of the big Russian classics (though I've read a little Gogol and one Pushkin book) and was wondering if, for starters, would this or Anna Karenina be better?

I think Lara is the the most tragic and greatest hero in this novel (more than Zhivago) Lara goes to the war looking for Pasha. She lost Pasha and then lost Zhivago. Then she lost her younger daughter, Tania, and lives the agony of never finding her. Then Lara is deported to a concentration camp, where she dies!! She really shows her effort to find her loved ones, while Zhivago, no that much. What do you think?

is it a classic? or is it a modern political commentary/historical fiction? always wary about the term classic, but i believe it is one by now, stood the test of time, imho.
