Do this series have to be read in order? I have a copy of this one (book #3), but not the first two. I imagine it does, but would this work as a standalone?

I have just got 'Siberian Red', which is not listed but the plot and book summary are the same, or similar to 'Archive 17'. Has this book been renamed, for some reason?
