Unfortunately, I don't think you'll get help opening the file on goodreads. If you got the e-book from a vendor (amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, etc.) you'll need to contact them (or the vendor or manufacturer of your device - Kindle, Nook, etc.) for help.

Genuine question. Can you remember a day from 16 years ago where an important incident took place with such clarity as characters seem to in this book? To the point where you can recite conversations (albeit with some error)?
