There is some mature content in the book, including some dramatic and somewhat disturbing information, but slavery in Louisiana was very disturbing by nature. I doubt, however, that Sana Khalid read our book. I think, rather, that he's heard about the movie, which was brutal.

Another was to show how his ability to read and write ultimately resulted in his release from bondage.

Since there was no way for a slave to mail a letter, he had to have a third party take it to the post office. Read the book and, I hope, really enjoy it!
