I just finished reading this book and it was just so amazing and touching. I stayed up the whole night reading this book. GOD is amazing on how he works on our lives! This is the first book I read from Francine Rivers and Im planning to read The Bridge To Haven after. I heard there was a movie on Redeeming Love?

I did a summer book club and this was one of the books we read and discussed. I found the beginning of the book heart breaking but I was captivated and could not put it down until I completed the entire book. I passed it on to my daughters because I wished for them the same healing, the main character experienced. Four of my daughter, I rescued from abuse. In the same manner the oldest child was not accepting of me as was the main character of the one who loved her. Reading this book also thought me lessons about love. I learned that it is not until we are mature enough and ready to receive love that we can accept and return love. We live and learn.(less)

Was it only me, or did anyone one else feel very uncomfortable for Micheal to be so wholesome about slavery? (1) He praised his father who was a slave owner that raped and killed some of their slaves. Then (2) the author tried to make us feel sorry for Micheal because he had to spend a MONTH living in the slave quarters then equated that with him being treated as a slave too. He’s playing a false victim.

Though I think the “clean” label is very vague in that it’s open to interpretation. There are sex scenes in this book - but they’re not descriptive. It’s a story of a literal prostitute, based on a Bible story about a prostitute, I’m surprised so many are shocked by this. The Bible is a “clean” read, yet it includes sex, rape, incest, lust, murder, etc… all of which are also found in this novel. The content may make some readers uncomfortable but that doesn’t make it an “unclean” read. (less)
