Was this a sequel? And if so, was the first one better then this one? I really enjoyed this one.

Syndrome E explains the relationship Franck and Lucie better in the sense that you get all the back story to how Lucie went from having twins to one daughter. The crime that Syndrome E centers around deals with a mystery film, how the mind works, and government cover-ups as well as some other things; so how much you like the story overall depends on your feelings about that sort of stuff. Personally, I don't love stories with 'conspiracy theories' or anything like that; but I absolutely loved Syndrome E and I find the crime in Bred To Kill just as interesting even though they're quite different.
