Rereading Is Here! Let's Say It Again. Rereading Is Here!

How much do we love rereading? Let us count the ways…for those days when you just want to spend time with your favorite characters; or when you want to revisit a beloved classic; or maybe you want to brush up on a series before the next installment comes out (we're still waiting, George R.R. Martin and Diana Gabaldon), the list goes on! Rereading is such a core part of many of our readers' lives that having a better way to keep track of the times you've read a book has been your number one feature request. Starting today, that wish has been granted—no more missing out on rereads being counted for your Reading Challenge!
How Do I Start Using the Rereading Feature?
Next time you decide to reread a book that you've already marked as Read on Goodreads, simply mark it as Currently Reading. When you are done, just mark it as Read. You can do this from the Goodreads iOS and Android apps and on Goodreads.com, as well as in the About the Book feature on Kindle (if you have connected your Goodreads and Amazon accounts - click here to connect your accounts). We take care of marking it as a reread for you. Bonus, it will also automatically be included in your Reading Challenge.
Rereading Rolling Out In Stages
While it sounds like a simple thing to add, rereading turned out to be a complex engineering challenge that involved our entire database. To give you a sense of that scope, our 60 million members have added more than 1.7 billion books to their shelves! That's why we're rolling out rereading in stages. So, if you're not seeing it yet, you will soon!
How Do I Know If I Have the New Rereading Feature?
Go to Goodreads.com on desktop, choose a book you have already read, and click Edit on the My Activity area of the Book Page. At the bottom of the review section, you'll see the following:

How Do I Add All The Times I've Reread My Favorite Books?
On Goodreads.com on desktop, use the brand-new "Add read date" button in My Activity on the Book Page to enter when you read the book; then hit save! (You don't have to have a start date, but you must have a finish year for the book to count toward your Reading Challenge.)
What Happens If I've Been Keeping Track of My Rereads With The "Number of Times Read" Option?
If you previously used the "Number of times read" field, don't worry, we've already done the work for you and all your rereads are still there. If you added a number, it automatically shows in the new feature. If you used text, we've included it in the private notes section of your review. Simply click on edit Review, to change any dates or add more information.
I've Been Using Different Editions to Track Rereads, What Happens Now?
Our new rereading feature takes that into account! Rereads are comprehensive of all editions. When you view your review, it will indicate that you have also read another edition and include that in the total count.

Wondering which are the books Goodreads members most love to reread? Here are some of the most revisited books:

Oh my gosh I just almost gasped in joy while I was at work. Thank you, thank you so much! I've been dying to have this feature for years!
FINALLY!!! Thank you GR!!!! Sucks my stat has already been messed up though but blah . I'm a happy camper :D
Absolutely made my day when I posted a review this morning to see this feature is now live ..... it's been a long wait .... every so thankful you all stuck it out and found a way to deliverThank you!
YAAAAY! Thank you soooo much! :D HA! And it's working! Wohooo! I love it! Now I can add all my re-reading sessions! LOL
Thanks, Goodreads!! This is the feature I have been waiting for since long. :) Time to create a To-ReRead-List.
Some of the books I have re-read over the years, some 5 or 6 times- To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, The Sun Also Rises , A Farewell to Arms and The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway, The Source by James Michener, East of Eden by John Steinbeck, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque and Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
Thank you so much for all your hard work on this tough addition. It really is appreciated. I noticed the changed when I was adding a review, and now I understand what it is. Very nice to have. Most of those "most frequently read" books are on my list! One that probably won't show up is one I read every summer by Susan Wiggs "The Charm School". It's just a fun Cinderella type story but with a bungling bluestocking.
This is awesome. The lack of this feature was the one thing about Goodreads that disappointed me after I moved over from Shelfari, so I have no complaints at all now! Thanks very much for putting in the massive effort to make this work.
This is great news! Plus I've only re-read a book or two recently and had yet to add anything to my reading challenge so this helps a lot!
First off, I love this new feature. But, I think it has done something weird to older entries. This new feature has changed the dates and doesn't list them as multiple rereads. Like a book I read in 2011 and then again in 2013, changed my reading dates from: started xx/2011 to finished xx/2013..hmm At least in my review I have the actual dates still listed.
I've been doing this since the beginning. I just click currently reading now and when I've finished and click on 'read' I add the re-read date to the personal information underneath. This way it gets included in my yearly totals and I can keep track of each time I re-read them.
This is awesome, all I've done this year so far is read books I've already read before so it's great that I can add them to my reading challenge, thanks goodreads!
This is awesome !! I am thrilled rereading books can be counted towards my current year challenge!! Thank you Goodreads.
Yaaaay! This is great! I tought I will not be able to complete my reading challenge this year because there are some series I just have to reread every year, like The Black Dagger Brotherhood,Demonica,Lords Of Deliverance,Fantasyland, and if I count all these books they are half of my reading challenge.Yaaaay once again!!!
So happy that this finally became a thing!!!!! Keep up the great work Goodreads!!!!! I have reread Beastly like 3 times and am planning on rereading it soon. I just love the romance between the characters so much.
Many of you have been asking when you can expect to have access to rereading, and I'm thrilled to say it's been rolled out to 100% of users. Happy rereading!
I am very happy that now I can reread to my hearts content without worrying about running out of editions so that rereads still count towards this year's challengeOnly issue is that I reread a book in January that I had read for the first time last year and since i've now read it a total of 2 times my goodreads challenge says i've read 11 books when i've only read 10, telling me it's counting last year's read for that book in this year's challenge too even though the years are on the dates read.
Initially I had done the different editions thing, I ended up deleting the edition I didn't actually read and added onto the edition I actually did reread, putting the dates and year...and it still counts it twice.
So it ends up feeling like cheating and it's just bothersome. I know this is a new update though and bugs and improvements can always be fixed or added.
I do thank you so much for making this update! Honestly I am happy about this update, i'm just upping my goal to accommodate for now. I am glad that I don't have to worry about running out of editions now for it to count :)
