Got a Kindle E-reader? Now Your Goodreads Want to Read List Is on the Kindle Home Page!

Posted by Sukhesh Miryala on February 3, 2016
If you read on a Kindle ereader, we know that moment you are thinking of: You've just finished a book, and you're ready for another. Now we've made it even easier to access your Goodreads to-read list! We worked with the Kindle team, and the latest Kindle ereader software update puts your Goodreads Want to Read list (and if you have one, your Amazon Wish List) front and center on the Kindle Home page. Goodreads is great at helping you find your next favorite book—now it will be simpler than ever to start reading it!

See what your Goodreads friends are reading, right from your Kindle.

Seeing what friends are reading is one of our favorite ways to discover new books on Goodreads. The new Kindle ereader Home screen rotates to show you personalized recommendations and books your Goodreads friends are reading, along with a profile photo of a friend who has it their shelves. Tap on the profile photo to see more friend activity around the book, including your friends' reviews. Tap on the book itself to download a sample or purchase and start reading! Books are always better with friends.

Our updated version of Goodreads is available in a free, over-the-air software update delivered automatically on the new Kindle, the Kindle Voyage, and the last two generations of Kindle Paperwhite in the United States, Canada, India, UK, Ireland, and Australia in the coming weeks. Can't wait? You can also visit Fire & Kindle Software Updates to download it manually now.

Wondering when your country or device will get this? Goodreads is currently available on the latest versions of Kindle e-readers and Fire tablets in the United States, Canada, India, UK, Ireland, and Australia. We don't have details to share about other devices or about introducing Goodreads to Kindle e-readers or Fire tablets in other countries at this time. However, our goal is to provide the Goodreads experience on Kindle e-readers and Fire tablets to as many of our members as possible. In the meantime, other options to consider are our iPhone/iPad app or our Android app, available from the Amazon Appstore for Android or from Google Play.

Let us know what you think of these new features!

Thanks Joshua! That worked a charm.

I want my to read list to be shown in numerical order. I order my list in the order I want to read the books. Can I accomplish this? If not, then how do I turn it off?

message 53: by Eric (new)

Eric I've got ten books on my to read shelf, but only one is showing up on the home page. How can I get them to show up correctly? I've removed and readded them multiple times from my PC and my Kindle. Went so far as deregistering/wiping my Kindle, deleting my Goodreads account, and starting all over from scratch. The one only ever shows up.

Georgene I bought the Kindle Paperwhite a couple of months ago. Since then I have loaded around 45 or so books. I tend only to read my Kindle when away from home. That way, I don't need to haul a bunch of books with me every place I go. I have a selection of fiction and non-fiction. Sometimes I actually PAY for ebooks, but I've got some interesting ones that I've obtained for free. My son signed me up for several different books sites. I get notifications on them every morning. There is one book that's free on Amazon that I cannot get to load on my Kindle. I've "purchased" it twice now and it has not loaded. My son has suggested that I find it on another site and load it from there. My son knows his mother is a "Luddite".

Jo On the homescreen, my Voyage only shows recommendations from two friends. Anyone know why this is happening or how I can change it?

message 57: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Sigh. I live in Germany. I know lots and lots of people in Germany read English books. Why are we never included? I would love to have goodreads integrated into my kindle, too.

Last year, Goodreads e-mailed me that they don't have further info about when/if Gooodreads is going to be available in Germany. :(

So I urge every German Kindle user to keep contacting Amazon about the Goodreads function. Maybe they'll take action if more requests are coming in.

Jood I've only just come across information about Goodreads on Kindle - and that was by chance, when I was reading the Kindle Users guide - on my Kindle. It's a 7th generation, bought less than a year ago, but it seems as though this "ancient" device won't support Goodreads!

I am disappointed.

Chandni Raghuraman I have just purchased my Kindle Paperwhite WiFi model. The goodreads registration tab appeared before I registered the device to my amazon account. However, that option or icon isn't available after linking the device to the amazon account. What should I do to get the icon on the menu bar?

Hiya Chandi - I'd have a live chat with the guys at Amazon. Go to the website and click on the Help button near the top, then you should see a Help button specifically for Devices. They should be able to talk you through whatever it is that needs to be done.

Good luck.

Alexandre Marcondes When should we have Goodreads and Kindle PaperWhite integration on German accounts (amazon.de) ?

message 68: by Allmuth (new)

Allmuth goodreads with a German Account: I´m quite desperate for a better way of organizing my e-books (too many...) on several kindle devices. Goodreads seemed the solution - but obviously not working in D. Please release it for Germany - I really don´t want to get a second Amazon account just to be able to use goodreads.

Lorenzo Strambi I've bought a Kindle yesterday because of the integration with Goodreads and I've discovered just now that is not working on accounts other than US and UK (I'm Italian).
I will return it and back to Kobo!
