Will I Like This? New Book Page on Goodreads iOS App Has the Answer
Own an iPhone or iPad? Now it's even easier to decide if you'll like a book (or not) with the redesigned book pages on the Goodreads iOS app!
Updated design
Get ready for a gorgeous new design that makes the book cover the star of the page. Each page now has a simple, clean look that makes it easier than ever to shelve, rate and review your latest book.

Jump right into the next book
Binge watching has nothing on binge reading! What's the first thing you want to do when you finish an amazing story? Find more by your new favorite author, of course! Now, when you go to the book page to rate the book you've just read, we help you keep your book binge going by showing you the next books in the series, more books by the same author, and similar books that Goodreads members also enjoyed.

Find out what people are saying
Whether you're trying to decide what to pick up next or you've just finished a book and can't wait to hear what others thought, reading reviews is the perfect way to dive deeper into the reading experience. Want to hear both sides of the story? We've made it easy to see reviews broken down by the star ratings it has received from the Goodreads community—or just from your friends. With a tap of the star rating, you can see all of the one star reviews for that book you worry may not live up to its hype, and even better, you can dive into all the five star reviews for that 800 page epic that's been sitting on your to-read shelf. Reading inspiration at its best!

Editions Matter
Keeping track of which edition of a book you've read is important. Did you read the first edition of A Game of Thrones in 1997, the TV tie-in edition when the series came out, or the Kindle e-book? The right edition with the right cover and page count matters so we've included the ability to switch editions directly via the book page in the app. The choice is yours.

These are just a few of the enhancements you'll find on the book page. Download the updated app from the iTunes App Store today and let us know what you're most excited about!

Where on the app do you leave a review? Isn't Goodreads all about networking about books, authors and sharing reviews? Would that not be an important function to you?
Why can I only see a couple of reviews on my Currently Reading page under my current book? What? I'm stumped on this new change. What about an easier way to find and communicate under Groups? How about being able to use Explore on the app like you do on the web? It would also be nice to reply to a specific post or edit a specific post. Did you actually consider the end user of this app?
Bottom line, Goodreads is becoming more well known and more poplular. Consider putting more time into programming the app. Go forward and not backward. This upgrade is not for someone that hops on Goodreads daily, actually writes reviews and is a true book nerd. And for goodness sakes, bring back the ability to write a review on the app under Currently Reading. That functionality is an enormous miss for your users.

Where on the app do you leave a review?"
Thanks so much for taking the time to send us your feedback!
To clarify, Here's how to leave a review on the updated iOS app:
1. Navigate to the book page of the book you’d like to review.
2. Mark the book as "Read".
3. Scroll down and tap the “Write a Review” button. (It should now appear under your star rating).
4. A text box will open for you to write a review.
5. Tap "Done" at the top right to save!
To view more reviews, simply tap on the "- Community Reviews" section on the book page. This will take you to the book’s reviews, which you can further filter by star rating.
When you refer to writing a review under Currently Reading, are you referring to the written progress update? Please note that you can do this by visiting the page of a book you’re Currently Reading and tapping on the "update your progress" button under the star rating. You can also do this by visiting your Currently Reading shelf and selecting "Update Progress” next to any of the books you've shelved.
Thanks for all your other feedback - we'll be sure to submit it to our development team for consideration!

I find the design a bit jarring compared to rest of the app, but I will probably get used to that eventually.
I would love to see the "groups" redone next, as that's mostly what I use the app for and it is very clunky and difficult to manage right now. Trying to read new comments on a very active thread is a nightmare.

Keep up the good work!

Because for all you know, not everyone is using iPHONE or iPAD.
AND GR in Android app crashes a LOT.
Thank you!
:)"
I thought this was just me! Yes I have android and goodreads crashes EVERY time I load it.

If we could just get the add book/author tab when we are doing comments in groups, it would be great for those of us who post via our phones.

Confusing. Why don't you ensure that both iOS and Android users have updates simultaneously?

Looking forward to it!

I agree! Fantastic idea. Maybe also a quick way to access Listopia?

While reading a book I like to write little comments/concerns/Plot thus far/etc. when I update my reading progress from my Kindle. I liked being able to click on my previously read books and see what my thoughts were at certain parts of a book. I no longer see this on the updated APP, I only see my star rating and what shelf the book is on, I can no longer read my update comments(or whatever they are called). Anyone know if status updates are on there somewhere and I'm just not seeing it?

I have nothing to complain about.
Now looking forward a new profile page and new timeline.

I'm on the app right now, and my friend's reviews show up right away under the graphic showing the ratings? My friend's reviews show up and if I want to read Community Reviews I have to click on that section. So, to me, it looks like my friend's thoughts are appearing before anything else?
Personally, I like the update and hope that the same kind of update is in the works for the desktop version as well.
Another update that I would love to see for the app is if you are commenting in a group thread, the ability to add the link to the book/author would be appreciated.
Will there be an update for the app and desktop for how the Home page will look?

Yes Yes Yes!!!

dito

When I post comments using it, it doesn't automatically capitalize the first letter in a sentence, which annoys the crap out of me.
Also, I'd just like more of the website features to be available on the app. The app is very sparse in general imo.

It does look nice, but functionality trumps appearance.

You can still do it under 'write a review'. But that option only appears AFTER you've shelved it as read, so you either need to shelve it as 'currently reading' on the day you start it or keep a note elsewhere (which kind of defeats the purpose). I'd rather have it as a separate option altogether. And for the app (and website) to allow for multiple reading dates of books you read more than once.

Please give us a full-featured Android app!

Please give us a full-featured Android app!"

I appreciate the time and effort here but I would have much preferred improved functionality such as being able to "reply" to a specific post on a thread a or add a book link to a post or a review . Are there any plans for improving these functions. In my view , these would be big improvements .
Thanks .
