Fall in Love with Readers' Most Anticipated New February Romances

Some people love books. Some people fall in love. And some people love books about falling in love. Every month our team sorts through the new romance books and sees how early readers are responding via their shelvings and initial reviews. We use this information to curate a list of soon-to-be-beloved favorites.

New in February: Horny Greek gods find trouble in Radiant Sin, lovelorn journalists find each other in Just My Type, and steamed-up folk legends find a new home in Twisted. Also on tap: Romantic vineyards, retired witches, and the politics of love.

Add what catches your fancy to your Want to Read shelf, and let us know what you're reading and recommending in the comments.

Set in the roughneck town of Knockemout, Virginia, Lucy Score’s latest series profiles regular people with regular love stories. And by “regular” we mean “complex,” since love is never simple. In this new book, town newcomer Lina finds she has an incandescent connection with Nash, the former chief of police. Can Lila heal Nash’s emotional wounds? Sure, that would be nice, but mostly she’s in it for the hot nookie. Do the kids still say that? Nookie?

The first installment in a cleverly titled new series, the wine-themed romance Secretly Yours finds tightly wound college professor Julian Vos on sabbatical at his family's vineyard. Julian is supposed to be writing a novel, but it turns out that old high school flame Hallie Welch is a serious distraction. Author Tessa Bailey (It Happened One Summer) has been called the “Michelangelo of dirty talk,” and her new book promises the sublime pleasures of this high art.

Handsome men in romance novels are sometimes likened to Greek gods, and Katee Robert’s contemporary Dark Olympus series of modern retellings gives new meaning to the phrase. In this new book, spymaster Apollo recruits Cassandra Gataki as his pretend plus-one for a party hosted by a dangerous new power player. But things get complicated when their professional relationship takes a turn for the hot.

Recommended for readers of Casey McQuiston and Meryl Wilsner, Amy Spalding’s queer romance profiles the intensifying flirtation between a talent agency manager and her out-and-proud Hollywood client. A bad breakup has sent L.A. writer Nina Rice to the suburbs, where she works from home ghostwriting online material for ascendant movie star Ari Fox. Sure, Ari is a little bossy, but there’s nothing wrong with that, in the proper context. Right?

Author Emily McIntire (Hooked) specializes in dark twists on classic stories. The latest in her popular Never After series has the general shape of a classic like, say, Aladdin—but McIntire is definitely coloring outside the lines. The heroine is conflicted. The moral template is grayscale. The villain is villainous. And according to early reader reviews, the heat factor is out of control.

Bookish people are the best kind of people. Everyone knows this. So when shy, bookish Lily Greene turns to her neighbor Nick Brown for love advice, Nick is happy to help. He knows a few things she doesn’t, though. One, they’ve already met. Two, Nick is a little in love with Lily already. And three, Nick is not his real name. Author Kristina Forest (I Wanna Be Where You Are) returns with another heartwarmer.

Book number two in April Asher’s series Supernatural Singles begins with a one-night stand between a retired witch and a half-demon veterinarian. Standard-issue characters, you might think. But things get interesting when Rose Maxwell is assigned to community service at Damian Adams’ animal sanctuary. Now that the two can’t just ignore each other, something will have to give.

The new romantic comedy from author Falon Ballard (Lease on Love) follows the increasingly complicated love life of journalist Lana Parker, suddenly single after a series of long-term relationships. The last thing Lana needs is the reappearance of her high school ex, Seth Carson. Making things worse, Seth is now her professional competitor. When the two writers square off in a dueling columns competition, all kinds of old feelings flare up.

Reality-television producer Ana Karina is used to tweaking the facts. If a storyline isn’t quite working out, it can always be fixed in the editing room. Ana’s love life, however, is not as easy to adjust. A dedicated list maker, Ana decides to write down exactly what she wants in a man, then find the guy who checks all the boxes. Easy! This debut romance from author Lissette Decos is recommended for fans of Alexis Daria and Kate Stayman-London.

Workplace romances are tricky under the best of circumstances. So political aide Isadora Maris knows to stay clear of Karim Sarda. Yes, he’s brilliant and beautiful, but he’s also working for her boss’s opponent in the California senate race. Given their employers’ ferocious political rivalry, it would be absolute madness to even consider it. Besides, Isadora must consider her political principles and her professional—my god, that man is gorgeous.
