Yeah I also came across one of these people and I was honestly baffled that there are people who comment stuff like that instead of let people be themselves, but gladly he's removed. It's a time for celebration, not negativity.

Honestly! I wanna read some queer thrillers/mysteries. I was hoping to add some to my to-read list."
The Bell in the Fog is the sequel to Lavender House, which is a fantastic historical mystery I highly recommend! And for new thrillers, check out Killing Me by Michelle Gagnon and You Can Trust Me by Wendy Heard. Really more of a suspense novel, but The Spare Room by Andrea Bartz comes out later this month and I really enjoyed it. And if you like queer cozy mysteries, Board to Death by CJ Connor comes out in August, and try Magic, Lies, and Deadly Pies by Misha Popp and A Killing in Costumes by Zac Bissonnette.

Roger wrote: "As a straight man I can't say that I have a whole lot of interest in these books, but I have had many gay and lesbian friends and I applaud any efforts to gain greater acceptance for sexual minorit..."
As straight people we should 100% be reading these types of stories.

Check out the Princess without Hair series. The lead is bisexual and one of her main love interests is genderfluid. In the first book he presents as masc but in the second book he presents as femme.
There's also an enemies to lovers arch with her and another woman.

currently reading and loving Imogen, Obviously which is both very Bi and YA!

I'm looking forward to Take Me With You by Michael Robert releasing on June 9th.
A couple other amazing books I've read recently were The Reaper by Garry Michael (forbidden, suspenseful, cult, assassins).
Igni Ferroque by Ashlyn Drewek (mm, pnr, enemies to lovers)
Finishing Lines by Jeris Jean (mm, friends to lovers, 2nd chance)

Great idea! I'm in Florida, and this year there are no Pride displays in libraries, makes me sad. Last year they were giving away folding flags, this year nothing.

Crime fiction from two amazing writers, Renée and Kim Hunt, both finalists in New Zealand's Ngaio Marsh Awards, both writing #yeahnoir about the complexities of love.
Renée is a distinguished Māori writer (Ngāti Kahungunu and Scots ancestry) of plays, fiction and memoir. #indigenous

"Ruby Palmer is no damsel-in-distress. She’s a theatre-stealing, boss ass wahine toa determined to solve the mystery of her friend’s death, even at risk to her own life... She is tough, courageous and endearing to the reader...reference to the acceptance of takatāpui before the imported teachings of the missionaries and a dramatic and soap-worthy range of relationships that challenge heteronormative conventions and establish a new-normal in fiction novels." (Pantograph Punch, https://www.goodreads.com/blog/show/2...)

Another star of a story, also set in small town Porohiwi, centering on Puti Derrell, owner of a bookshop called Mainly Crime and guardian of 10-year old called Bella Rose who wants to be a private investigator when she grows up.

‘Looking for fierce female protagonists? Queer action heroes? A dash of butch femme romance? You’ve come to the right place’. The Cal Nyx series is set in Australia and The Quarry is a Spiral Collectives Book.
Also celebrating a selection of books proudly published by Spiral Collectives—
Keri Hulme's Booker prize-winning #indigenous novel, now a classic.

& a celebration of Keri, of Ngāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe, Scots and English ancestry, who defined herself as 'neuter', with contributions from her family, peers and others who knew her (1947-2021); and from Keri herself, as a writer, visual artist and essayist.

&, from Aotearoa New Zealand's first out lesbian poet, a collection of erotic poems, selected and introduced by lesbian poet Emer Lyons.

I'd settle for just "here's platonic content" but there's the Murderbot seriesAll Systems Red and Elatsoe (not new, from 2020) that I've found with ace-spectrum protagonists and pretty minimal romantic/sexual content/desire/tension.

Hook: Book One Of The Karmaeleon Trilogy

If you haven't already, I highly recommend Emily Victoria (This Golden Flame, Silver in the Mist). Both her books have aro/ace protagonists. She also has story in an ace anthology (Being Ace) coming out in October.

What a strange take. I'm assuming you also aren't a long lost princess, an assassin, a time traveler, or a magician, but that apparently hasn't stopped you from reading books featuring such characters or themes.
The list features a wide selection of books across all kinds of genres, dealing with all kinds of themes. You don't have to be queer in order to have an interest in books written by queer authors or featuring queer characters, and it isn't a bad thing to make an effort to at least occasionally support and read something by authors or featuring characters that are different from you. Doing so helps cultivate empathy, and is a part of how a greater acceptance of marginalized groups is gained.
