4-Star Listens According to Audible and Goodreads Members

Posted by Sharon on November 18, 2022

Audiobook fans, this one goes out to you.

In an effort to find the very best audiobook experiences—books that are great reads and great listens—we’ve taken a new approach to this curated collection. We’ve cross-referenced the top lists from Audible with Goodreads’ own star rating system. Each of the books below has a four-star rating or above in both places (at the time of this writing, natch).

What emerged is a pretty interesting mix. Books with recent TV or film adaptations experienced the predictable bump—consider 2022's page-to-screen hits of Where the Crawdads Sing and The Sandman. You’ll find rock star authors with fresh titles like Grisham and King mixed in with genre hits in romance and science fiction. In the memoirs section, all audiobooks here are narrated by their authors (Viola Davis! Matthew McConaughey!), which is always the best way.

Scroll over the book cover images for quick details, or click through for the full listings. As always, keep your Want to Read shelf in mind.

Tiffany The Harry Potter series, Percy Jackson series and Heroes of Olympus are all great family audiobooks! Also a Series of Unfortunate Events. Little Fires Everywhere, Big Little Lies, 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and The Devil and the Dark Water are all great audiobooks for adults. The Finlay Donovan series is hilarious on audio. I’m currently working my way through Veronica Speedwell Mysteries and really enjoying it. Happy listening, everyone!

Rickey The entire Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Maberry. The audiobook narrator, Ray Porter, is AMAZING and brings these characters to life. Ray Porter also voiced Darkseid in the Zack Snyder Justice League movie. He is a fantastic narrator and the Joe Ledger series is a fantastic action/sci-fi series
