66 New Books to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
Here in the U.S., it’s time once again for National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs annually from September 15 through October 15.
In celebration of this year’s observance, we’ve compiled 66 new books from Latino/a/x authors published in 2022, with an eye toward new authors, in addition to well-known and beloved writers. For genre shoppers, we’ve divvied up the books into broad categories.
You’ll find that the range of themes and topics is generous and occasionally astonishing. Consider, for instance, Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s The Daughter of Doctor Moreau, an ambitious cross-genre expedition that updates the 1896 H.G. Wells classic into new realms of horror, sci-fi, and romance. Some other eye-catchers include Angie Cruz’s structurally innovative character study How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water; Alex Segura’s comic book noir Secret Identity; and Isabel Allende’s acclaimed historical epic Violeta.

Capaz que no es de este año pero es bastante reciente, creo yo que cabe incluirlo. Y me parece que es más representante de la "hispanic heritage¨ que muchos de sí incluyeron.

En realidad el término latino es menos representativo que hispano, al menos yo no me defino como latino, soy hispanoamericano, mis raíces son españolas e indígenas, no latinas, que es una cultura ajena por lo menos para mí.

Interesting comments in there. I agree with most of them, but you need to understand, that this is about sales, not cultural reality, marketing does not care. Sad, but true. Why I keep following comments every time GR does its promotional piece is because people put in comments titles worth reading! So please, please dear readers from Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, and any other Hispanic-speaking country post the titles you like and want to be seen around the world! Let´s help your authors be noticed!
I agree with Kat, and I personally recommend the series The Cemetery of the Forgotten Books (El Cementerio de los Libros Olvidados) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. Siento mucho que este autor falleciera tan joven.

Más allá de esto, me parece que hay que tener en cuenta de que se está hablando de una fecha de celebración de Estados Unidos, para latinos/hispanos que viven en Estados Unidos, y eso es lo que está reflejando esa lista. No es una compilación para latinos o españoles que viven en sus países de origen, por eso no hay libros en español tampoco. Es lo mismo que pasa con otras compilaciones de este estilo. Entiendo los planteos, pero simplemente no son listas para nosotros 🤷♀️

En este contexto, Hispanic se refiere por lo general a personas con dependencia latinoamericana, que viven en Estados Unidos, y hablan español. Es una celebración de la cultura de habla-hispana (español), en Estados Unidos.

Gracias por la aclaración! Por acá decimos latinoamericano que hace referencia a los paises de américa con ascendencia indígena incluyendo el mestizaje con países de origen latino como Francia, España y Portugal y que no necesariamente hablan español como lengua materna (como Brasil).
Autores que me gustaría recomendar, aunque no sean de 2022 :P

It's like saying Black History Month or Asian-American/Pacific Islander Month is a "cash grab". It's just celebrating and uplifting authors from marginalized backgrounds. These books would've been published regardless, so it's nice to see some I wouldn't have otherwise seen being lifted up.
Would love to read more on Rita Moreno and the rest of those who are famous in this world.
