October's Hottest Romances

Some people love books. Some people fall in love. And some people fall in love with books about falling in love. Every month our team sorts through the new romance books and sees how early readers are responding. We use this information to curate a list of soon-to-be-beloved favorites.
New in October: A fan-fiction author finds true love in Spoiler Alert, a sorceress must choose between magic and marriage in The Midnight Bargain, and romantic rivalry roils the Hawaii beachfront in Simmer Down. Also: A holiday time loop, pro football drama, and a werewolf in love. Add what catches your fancy to your Want to Read shelf, and let us know what you’re reading and recommending in the comments.

Maelyn Jones is in a very strange spot. Her family reunion in Utah is literally lasting forever. Some kind of time slip has Mae reliving her vacation over and over, and her only hope is to get longtime crush Andrew under the mistletoe at just the right moment. It’s no secret that holidays with the family can seem to last forever, but what do you do when your Christmas trip, quite literally, never ends?
The friend zone is a mysterious and treacherous place. It’s a realm where ambiguity reigns and hearts are broken. Cat café owner Alexis Carlisle has been wandering the friend zone for years with her platonic bestie, Noah Logan, a computer expert and former teenage hacker. This third installation of the Bromance Book Club series follows Alexis and Noah as they work out just exactly where they are—in the friend zone or out?
A sideways riff on the fantasy romance template, author C.L. Polk’s new book follows the fate of Beatrice Clayborn, a talented sorceress who must practice her magic in secret. Her poor family desperately needs the money that would come with an arranged marriage, but that would mean giving up sorcery for good. When Beatrice finds an ancient grimoire, she must choose between the path of magic or the path of marriage. There’s gotta be a way to do both, right?

Life really does get stranger than fiction in this appealing rom-com set in the wild world of fan fiction. April Whittier is a dedicated fanfic writer and staunch proponent of the hit TV show Gods of the Gates. Marcus Caster-Rupp, meanwhile, is the star of said TV show—and a secret fanfic writer himself, on the side. When a cosplay photo goes viral, April and Marcus end up in the unlikeliest of places: on a date.
The fourth chapter of T.J. Klune’s popular werewolf romance saga finds protagonist Carter Bennet leaving the safety of his pack to pursue answers on the open road. The object of his quest is a man Carter has only ever known as a feral wolf. Events progress, secrets are revealed, and Carter discovers something that could change the world of the wolves forever. It’s like how the old saying goes: Wolves are people, too.
It sounds perfect: At a writers’ retreat in coastal Italy, aspiring novelist Ava finds peace, inspiration, and a whirlwind romance with no strings attached. The writers’ retreat requires participants to remain anonymous, which means all baggage is left at the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Hiking! Swimming! Sex! But alas, all holidays must come to an end. Can this new relationship withstand the transition to the real world?
A new story from the author of the immortal football romance Intercepted, the high-stakes Snapped folds in some fascinating real-world issues. Quinton Howard is the new quarterback for the Denver Mustangs, and so far he’s the only one to take a knee during the national anthem. Elliot Reed has landed her dream job in the communications department of the team, and it’s her job to keep everyone happy—Quinton, the owners, and the fans. It’s a tricky situation, but sometimes love really is all you need.
Set on the beaches of Hawaii, author Sarah Smith’s Simmer Down has a delicious setup. Food truck gourmet Nikki DiMarco has a good thing going at the Maui beachfront, selling Filipino dishes to hungry swimmers. When British cook Callum James sets up shop in the next spot, it could spell trouble. He’s stealing her business! He’s hogging the space! He’s impossibly good-looking!

Snapped intrigues me as well, but I want to get to the other books in the series before I read it.

TOTALLY AGREE. An amazing series finale.

I also devoured Simmer Down when my pre-order arrived the other day. It was adorable!
I've got Crazy Stupid Bromance pre-ordered and In A Holidaze is on my TBR list for closer to Christmas. :)

Did you read Undercover Bromance too? If not, it might tide you over while you wait. :) https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

I'm still on hold at my library for Undercover Bromance but I think I might just break down and order that too!

Looking forward to reading Crazy Stupid Bromance, Spoiler Alert, Snapped and Simmer Down at some point, but the top of the list for me is The Midnight Bargain.

You should! I liked the 2nd book even better than the 1st!
