There's something to be said about luxuriating in the world of a long book. To help add to your list of readerly accomplishments this year, we took a look at some of the most popular heavyweights that are beloved by your fellow Goodreads members.

With genres from nonfiction to fantasy, this roundup covers favorites more than 600 pages long. This includes recent releases such as Priory of the Orange Tree and The Alice Network as well as classics including War and Peace and Gone with the Wind.

I really need to read more long books..."


I'm a slow reader, so it takes me a looong time to get through 500+ pages. But a long Stephen King book feels like 300 to 400 pages.

If you like SK, I highly recommend Needful Things.

I loved Angle of Repose. Unlike any other. It could have been written about my great-grandparents, who tried to homestead in Montana in the early 20th century.

doddymongie Gone With The Wind is such a treat! Once you start reading it, you can't stop. My first page-turner, and still in my top 10 (25 years later).

Patty I loved Dorothy Dunnett's two historical fiction series, The Lymond Chronicles and The House of Niccolo. All books in these series go well beyond the minimum to classify as "long."
