Everywhere we look, fictional characters are finding their second chance at love. High school sweethearts are reuniting, one-night stands are multiplying into many-night stands, and longtime crushes are transforming into lifelong romances.
The power of perseverance and optimism fuels the second-chance trope, which is all about two people reconnecting after fate drove them apart. After all, who gets it right the first time around?

Unless someone writes about an old whitehaired widow who looks a bit rough around the edges but still managed to find a second chance love I will stick with my political thrillers and mysteries.

How about a white-haired widower who finds his second chance at love in a retirement community? Forever and Ever by Devon McCormack might be just what you need!
Debra Kell, you should read Emotional Geology by Linda Gillard because that's exactly what you described :)

Most romance novels skew towards twenty-somethings; maybe early thirties. Most romance READERS skew higher in age. Harlequin USED TO have an imprint for the forties and fifties age range, which I loved, but they phased it out. Maybe a Goodreads Author will pick up on this and write for those of us over the median.

Debra Kell you should try the Christmas Room and Strawberry Hill both by Catherine Anderson. They are 60 + people and the stories are really good!

This is Fiction ...I imagine myself as the woman and in my fantasy I am not over weight or over 50 ! Love second chance books where hero screwed up ( because in my Fantasy I sure don’t want to be the one that screwed up ) and has to work at getting his girl back ! Any suggestions!
Hmmm...recently finished reading the Chaos series by Kristen Ashley...’Ride Steady’ was pretty good...then there are ‘Walk Through Fire’ and ‘Wild Like the Wind’ for the older crowd. Recommend as enjoyable 2nd Stab at Romance stories...as long as one doesn’t mind MC alphas and old ladies...and erotic scenes...and profanity. Lots of profanity. 🙂
Unforgiven by Elizabeth Finn - for any age. Tragic and passion don't have time and age definition. If the book is good, why fence it? Read this and weep!
I've just released a romance for the 45+ readers called In the Deep End by Nicky Webber. It ends with the lovers united and living happily ever after in their mid-50's. But quite a saga and lots of intrigue getting to that point!!!! Emotional tension to say the least!
I haven't read any of these yet. I can't wait!!!!!! I recently finished Nomad's Island by author Derek E. Keeling. It wasn't a true romance book, but had lots of romance. The best part was the crazy twist in the middle, and then again at the end. Honestly, I enjoyed it and highly recommend. There were some minor grammatical errors, but nothing I couldn't overlook because the story was so enthralling. Have any of you read it?
Cindy wrote: "People always want to knock romance, but it's the top selling genre by quite a bit. Just sayin'."Thank you.

MC is 40 ish
Any more recommendations for good second-chance love story in regency or historical settings? Something like The Lost Letter or The Gentleman Physician?
Never apologize for your reading tastes or denigrate other people's preferred reading. There are more than enough books for us all.
Can anyone recommend Jane Austen’s Persuasion inspired books that are releasing in 2019/2020 and/or released in 2018? Preferably actual physical books.
