I only joined Goodreads this year and it's been so much fun tracking my reading here - I love everything neatly organised and tracked :D I'm composing alist of reading goals for 2018 and Goodreads have massively inspired me to ♥

Idd, I found out my "read" dates were missing!

Glad you found the issue. Have a fantastic New Year! :)
Dina wrote: "Just like last year, the total number of pages is inaccurate because the end of year stats count the pages of audiobooks. Yes, I have shelved them as audiobooks. It still adds the pages."Hi.. I think it is just fine that they add audiobook page counts. You put in the time.. to listen and it is the same writing you would have read. I think perhaps you would be happy if they would log written pages And listen pages and then also have a Total Page count. I suppose they probably could and you might ask if someday possible. For now if it means so much to you to have audiobooks Not counted in Your Page Count, how about after you finish listening to a book that you.. keep track so you can subtract it and then at the end of the year you can make a post to your friends how you want your totals to be shown. I am happy having totals shown as they are. It is Ok.
Jasmine wrote: "People read over 1000 books a year?! Wow! Even 100 seems like a lot to me. (I can only manage about 25 to 35 books.)"Even you can up your totals, but you have to work at it. I never read more than about 250 books in my 65 years, but... Once I found Goodreads to keep track of books and now with change in my eyes and my nose not affected by the smell of the ink.. I am a reading fool... I have read like 2000 in past three years. Now many of those books are from Children's lists and you can bump off more than 10 an hour and hundreds with under 100 pages. I am now mostly up to the 200 to 400 page count books so I am slowing down. It is fun to work to complete a book list. What got me interested Facebook used to have a great book list spot and at that time I was reading Oprah book list because I didn't know what books to start with. I actually finished all of her books and on FB I marked the list and found I was 5th in the World to mark the FB list for her books!!!!!!! That I thought was so neat to do. I then looked up Classics and ..well I picked 91 other lists to work on.. to read the Best of the Best of all types of books... and that is what I am still working on. That FB list broke and now they have another type of list sight to use which is still good to find lists you want to work on. Lists on Goodreads some have had just anyone add to them and they are not.. the original list of books. FYI.. the 1001 Adult book list is one of the worst list of books I work on.. so many bad books. Good Classic book lists are a great place to start. So... You can read more books. I read now during TV commercials because they are so long. I also listen to audiobooks while I do my art or clean etc! Good Luck!
Is the Facebook share link going to be fixed? Like other people have said, it just says “Sign in” so it’s not worth sharing to Facebook. It’s a shame because the Year in Books looks great.

Can't the yearly reading challenge page be done like this? That way I'd be able to see my friend year in books too!!

hello, i am having the same probem with facebook share, i don't think it is worth it sharing it when it just says "log in" because even though if you click on it the link works, nobody is going to click on something that dull, the point of sharing on facebook is for other friends to comment and interact with your post on facebook. i find it a bit disappointing that goodreads hasn't fixed it..

I am able to share my year in books from last year with no problems but not this year for some reason.

You'd like us to share this feature - - could you please share it with us first? It isn't featured on either my Home sidebar, or My Books - it's not on Your Reading Activity or anywhere else that it makes sense for it to be. Do people really check their own profile for content? Is there a motive for making Goodreads ponderous? Do obvious oversights like this increase time spent here, or clicks, or some other scabrous factor of crass commercialization? That kind of monkey business makes me want to close my account. Design for me like I'm five. Please (and thank you).

I would have thought the most obvious place to put it would be the Home page like they do with the Reading Challenge. Like you say, most people have no need to check their own profile page.
Ian wrote: The only place it seems to be, apart from the top of this page, is on each persons profile page, on the right-hand side.I noticed this, and tried to address it by asking if Goodreads expects users to check their own profile page for content. A profile page is a self-identification feature, usually - and not a place to check for new content, especially when there is a "Home" or "My Books" page featured. There are many things that are not intuitive in the Goodreads formatting.

It was on the Home page for a while and then was placed on the Profile page. I requested that it also remain on the Home page (in Message #46) but did not receive an official reply. As I've stated elsewhere, I rarely visit my Profile page. I already know who I am and what I've done on the site.
Maybe, this is GR's way of getting people to start actively using their profile page, but I don't see the point since we have a Homepage.

I love the lists and I love looking at this summary of the books I read this year. It's a lot of fun to see my year in a condensed version.

"Sharing" to facebook creates a link that says "Sign in to GoodReads" - not very engaging. How can I make the actual graphical representation of the books display in facebook, linking from the image back to GR?

The share button works, but it really doesn't show anything. It only shres the words "sign in". And also i don't know how to share it here on goodreads.

Where is the part that shows you your top genres? Also, I wish this was easily accessible on the app, I had to google "my year in books" to find this.
Will the 2018 year in books appear again before the end of the year?It was on my profile page for the first few days of January and then disappeared, I enjoyed having it to look at this early on.
Sarah (Head Stuck In A Book) wrote: "Will the 2018 year in books appear again before the end of the year?It was on my profile page for the first few days of January and then disappeared, I enjoyed having it to look at this early on."
Hopefully, they'll update it soon. I would love to watch my progress throughout the year.
In the meantime, however, you can click on that one, and change the year to 2018 in the address bar.
Honestly, there are so many bug fixes goodreads need to do for the app and for the site and I don’t really get why they aren’t doing it? For example, when I get notifications on the app that new people commented on this thread if I click on it it doesn’t bring me to the actual new comments, I have to scroll all the way down to the last comment to see what’s going on
KnownAsLavinia wrote: "For example, when I get notifications on the app that new people commented on this thread if I click on it it doesn’t bring me to the actual new comments, I have to scroll all the way down to the last comment to see what’s going on"Ugh, yes. So annoying. So now, I don't even read posts or comments on the app.
KnownAsLavinia wrote: "For example, when I get notifications on the app that new people commented on this thread if I click on it it doesn’t bring me to the actual new comments, I have to scroll all the way down to the last comment to see what’s going on"Yeah, unfortunately, this has been a problem for a very long time. I would love to see GR address and fix it.
Jasmine wrote: "Ugh, yes. So annoying. So now, I don't even read posts or comments on the app. "
Same, when it comes to blog posts. I suffer through it for some of my group posts, but it is annoying as Hades to deal with!
KnownAsLavinia, Jasmine and Nyssa, I completely agree about having to scroll down to get to the comments you’re being notified about. It takes ages on a phone. The Facebook share was showing the Goodreads sign in last week but it isn’t doing anything at all now, so I give up. I just don’t get why they go to all that trouble designing the Year in Books if it’s glitchy and you can’t share it.
I know. It doesn’t seem like they are too concerned. Nobody is going to want to share it in February. It’s completely pointless to have this nice graphic just for me to view.
It seems that with the introduction of the 'Year in books' thingy, the prior years' challenges have been rolled into a single button that needs to be specifically pressed to reveal its contents. Each time.Is there a way to put all the prior year challenges on display for good? It would have been super convenient!
KnownAsLavinia wrote: "Has the fb share thing worked for anybody yet?"Unfortunately we haven't been able to resolve this issue yet. We apologize for any inconvenience and will share any updates here.
