Here in Canada we have "Free Libraries" - you can take a book and/or leave a book, and these little sealed weatherproof 'boxes' are throughout the cities/towns with books for this. I prefer this option, as it sickens me to see and think of people just leaving a book sitting outside... (1) to wreck the book and (2) to 'litter' if not picked up or blown away.

I had a wonderful time today--even though it was rainy--hiding (most in plain sight) five copies of my books Three copies of my book The 500 Hats of a Modern-Day Woman, and two copies of Learning to Trust Again, which I helped another author with. Thanks for the fun and the wonderful stickers from Goodreads and I Believe in Book Fairies. Three books are in Edina, MN, and two are in Eden Prairie, MN--suburbs of Minneapolis. My husband went with me, and he got into the spirit of it, too. I hope whoever finds them enjoys them and passes them on. This is a great program!
Mine is in Alexandria, Louisiana. It was hidden by my personal assistant, Blanco the Chihuahua.https://www.facebook.com/bonnietaylor...
I hid three books at Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock Arkansas this morning :-)

I hid books in retail store dressing rooms. I hid one at Star bucks. I hid some at the Botanical Garden building. I really enjoyed hiding the books!

I am glad because I am hiding mine later this week. I am thinking the college bus stop.
Fun to see pictures of where books are "hidden." I can't wait to start but haven't received my stickers yet. Checking the mailbox every day. I've got several spots in mind to leave books.
I hid two free books on the shelf at my local library. I attached a note saying they were free and the books are being given away in honor of "Hide a Book Day" in celebration of Goodreads' anniversary. It was rainy here (in Missouri). I didn't want the books to be ruined by the wet weather. I figured book lovers like libraries, maybe someone will find them soon. It would be nice if we could find out who found our books and see if they enjoyed them.
Author Jeff Minerd hid his book at The Rochester Museum Science Center in Rochester, NY. Many other fairies also hid their book in Rochester. What a fantastic idea!
I hide three books in Castle Rock, CO for Hide-A-Book day.The Witch of Blackbird Pond At our community center.
Gone-Away Lake Also at our community center.
Little House on the Prairie At a bagel shop in town.
Such a cute idea, so fun, I can't wait until next year!!! :)
Lauren Elizabeth wrote: "Is anyone hiding a book in PA?"I hid two books in Zelienople PA at the park.
I hid three, one in a clothing store dressing room, one in the pharmacy waiting area and one in the coffee shop restroom. It called for rain today or I would have hidden some outdoors. - Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I think I was the only book fairy in my tiny hometown today but I left five signed copies of The Heaven Corporation in various locations around town. I've already had someone message my Facebook page to tell me they found one of my books and loved the surprise. It made my day.

The pack I ordered from the book fairies did not arrive *sniff* - I'll hide a book anyway today. I work in a school so should not be hard. :P
Vonze (Yvonne) wrote: "I was so excited for this. Gave away 5 books. But I don't appreciate whomever runs the Goodreads Twitter account laughing at me for wrapping my books in plastic. Sorry I care that they aren't damag..."Hi Vonze, so sorry you were upset by our Twitter response. It was definitely a laugh of joy because of our shared care of books – we were also worried about our books getting damaged in the outdoors and discussed using plastic to protect them!
Allison wrote: "Cordelia wrote: "Allison wrote: "I have hidden five books in Dunfermline, Scotland, today and I really enjoyed taking part. This was a celebration for Goodreads' birthday but book fairies are doing this every single day around the world - so you can keep going! :)
I hid my book in the doctor's office at Cape Girardeau, MO. Loved participating. I think I will make this a monthly thing to hide books in my Missouri/Illinois area. Hope whomever gets them will enjoy them and pass them on.
I hid 12 books in Manhattan. It was a little disappointing to walk by an hour, two hours, the next morning and the some of the books were still there. I even had people run after me telling me I'd forgotten my book.
I work for the National Park Service so for Hide A Book Day I recruited some of the other rangers to donate books and we hid them around the park for people to find. All of the books were related to the history of the park in some way. It was a big hit, so I think we'll be doing this again next year!https://www.facebook.com/Lowell.NPS/p...
Oh, did Goodreads reply to all of these posts with the laughing with tears emoji and ruin their whole day, too? Probably not. Guess it was just me.
I like the idea of finding a free book, but right now we are fighting for our library to stay open! Can you believe it? In a town of around 9 thousand the goverment does not want to fund a library. One to read is nice, a whole library full is better.
As a high school librarian, I am hiding a total of 50 books all across our campus this week! Clues are given out on our instagram (@bulldogsbooks) each day and students are so excited to find them!
I kidnapped 2 of my adorable nieces and hid 3 books around my city here in California. One was on a bench outside Panera, one was at a table in between Sweet Frog and Starbucks. And one was near the fountain as you're walking out of our library. It was SO much fun! I can't wait to do it again! But do I have to wait till next year?! Hehe.
A friend and fellow book club member and I hid 10 books around our city and had a blast doing it! Such a great idea. Who knew being a book fairy was so much fun! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?stor...

The Boise Public Library in Idaho hid 20 books around downtown Boise! :D They're on Instagram as @boisepublib

I live in a small rural town so the chances are high that some of them might be sitting out there in the open for weeks before anyone picks them up and it rained the day I hid them. I wasn't upset by Goodreads' tweet, though. They do look rather funny in plastic bags. I had a chuckle at myself, too. :)
