Her book, Tales from the Eerie Canal: 22 Stories of the Delightfully Dark and Creepy, won the Florida Writers Association’s 2021 Royal Palm Literary Award for “Best Published Book of the Year.”
In2ition Magazine named her “2021 Short Story Writer of the Year.”
She writes “horror lite” short stories (goosebumps, not gore) culled from a childhood of macabre fairy tales and endless episodes of Twilight Zone.

Barbara first published in second grade with a poem and short story in Junior Scholastics Magazine. But her book series, Cassandra McGillicuddy’s Adventures in Outer Space, complete with stick figure drawings, was panned by her fourth-grade teacher. A Nail-Biter He was innocent. But gossip nearly got him hanged. Couldn’t put the book down. So well written. I’d read anything by this author.
