Would you watch a book read to video?

We read books. We listen to them. We watch films based on them.

Would we watch an actor read one?

A short reading from King of Thorns (no spoilers).

message 1: by Simon (new)

Simon Ellberger I would watch one as good as the linked video, but not as a substitute for reading the book; rather, I'd watch it after I'd read the book. I would think it works especially well with first person stories such as "King of Thorns." The only real problem I encountered had to do with the actor's "accent." As an American (forgive me!), I had a bit of a problem catching in its entirety what he was saying. Quite faux-Shakespearean though.

Peter McLean I have to say no - I'm not sure what this brings that an audiobook doesn't.

Simon Ellberger Peter: Facial expressions, body movements, and the like convey much more than voice alone. So it brings enhanced, nuanced communication.

Jagged No video or audio books for me. I actually enjoy the reading part--having the book be from my perspective. However, it would be interesting to see it from the author's perspective. Like Simon--I think it would be a possibility after having read the book.
