Is this Love? Snippet from #SciFi Novella Captured by the Hawk for #WeWriWa

Welcome to another Sunday with Weekend Writing Warriors . Here, writers in different genres showcase their stories with 8-10 sentences. Join the fun and read our snippets. For Valentine’s Day, I’m offering you a romantic snippet from my novella, Captured by the Hawk. In this fun space operetta, pirate Black Hawk dresses like a ninja and absolutely no one sees his face. Of course, our feisty heroine is determined to uncover his identity during their misadventures. Here, they have crashed in a lake after escaping from a wrecked spaceship.
Her clothes sodden and cold, Katrina sprawled on coarse sand. She had a dim recollection of being dragged onto the shore. Strangely, someone was murmuring her name repeatedly and kissing her face. She flicked her eyes open; Black Hawk’s masked face hovered over her. The clinging wet cloth outlined the chiseled contours of his hidden face. His head covering was askew, revealing a triangle of forehead and his black curls. The effect fascinated her. He breathed, “Katrina, you’re alive!” “Barely alive,” she groaned, relaxing with her head propped on his arm.
