Where we talk about dream projects...
My second first book has finally been completed. Well not really but version two is now with the editors. I deleted the entire first ending, deleting two characters so I think the story I am trying to tell is more concise now. I am still not happy with the afterword...but I do not have the emotional strength to do anything about that right now. My real problem is I do not think I am ever going to happy with it...and I really don't know what to do about that. Hopefully the editors provide some guidance there.
In the mean time I am looking for a new project. Maybe just something for fun, or to keep my mind occupied, or to ya know actually make some fucking money. I want something that is more fun, light, something that is not as heart wrenching as the book was...
With that in mind here are a few things that I would say yes to regardless how much that pisses off my agent since most of these kinda side projects I do just for the shit of it.
1. I would love to be the writer of the book or books that will eventually be written to explain Han and Leia's courtship and eventual divorce...cause space divorce seems like something right up my alley. This book is going to be written and I would give up my book as a spec book to be the Star Wars nerd that gets to right it. If there is anything I know it is complicated relationships. I also have a fair amount of understanding on why said relationships don't work...its kind of my thing.
2. I would totally love to be the writer on the Star Wars Rogue Squadron that Disney should totally be making for Netflix. I do not want to write the screenplay because I suck as bad at writing dialogue as one George Lucas...by the way fuck you Mr. Lucas because Jar Jar...
3. This is a project that has already been pitched but some legal issues and corporate policies have likely killed it off...but I would totally like to write a detailed history of the Royal Rumble. I was a big wrestling fan in the day and this would just be fun. For me the Rumble is the premier wrestling event every year, and next year will be the 30th Rumble and that is why my agent pitched this to the powers that be. That got me a meeting, and another opportunity that didn't pan out but I would still totally like to do this. I covered sports for 10 years, and was a big wrestling fan for 10 more so I think that qualifies me.
4. I would also like to do one of those 100 things a fan should know or do before they die books...There is a Detroit Lions and Tigers version one already so I would totally be down to do the Red Wings version. Even a Detroit Pistons one...
Those of course are dream gigs...for now I will just continue to write about Disney's Star Wars timeline and my jacked up life.
