Diets Don’t Work

Fitness and Health

Yup that’s right diets don’t work.  They sound great don’t get me wrong, and they will promise you pretty much everything you’ve ever wanted in life.  Energy, a fit and hot body, a better sex life, cure to every ailment, and a lot more.  But in the end, diets just leave you feeling frustrated, because they don’t last.  Ever wonder why that is?

Diets are designed to be a crash course temporary fix to a problem that has most likely been decades in the making and that just doesn’t help.

Let’s put it this way.  If you were going in and renovating a house that had a bad foundation, a leaky roof, bad plumbing, and electrical wire hazards, would it do anything good to do landscaping, brand new paint, carpet, and tile throughout?  It may look nice for a few weeks, but soon, it’s going to collapse, flood, or worse.

Diets are the same way, they don’t address the underlying problems.  It’s not about eating or not eating carbs, not about counting calories down to the last one.  Shoot I can eat a snickers bar for breakfast lunch and dinner, and be under the recommended calorie limit but that doesn’t mean I’m going to get healthy or in shape.

It’s not a diet you need.  It’s a total life change.  You have to rethink the way you eat, not just limit it, or limit one item.  It takes removing the white carbs, the sugar, the soda, the fast food, the eating out all the time.  These are the biggies.

Then you have to replace them with whole foods, lean meat, chicken, turkey, (no bacon is not lean).  It takes eating fruit, and vegetables, drinking water, instead of soda (yes diet is included in this, it’s worse than regular), tea, or 0 calorie artificial crap. It takes eating whole grain brain, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, and doing away with the starchy white breads, pastas, and rices.

It’s thinking with your brain not your gut.  Your gut knows nothing, your brain does, listen to it.  If you really want to have more energy, a better body, and feel your best, it’s going to take more than a diet, and you can do it.  It’s not hard, it just takes some re-training and some work.
