Getting From Cebu to Tubigon, Philippines – Survive Travel

This post explains getting from Cebu to Tubigon in the Philippines.

It also includes costs, pictures and my own personal little rants which may or may not include information you find useful.

Getting from Cebu to Tubigon

This more detailed version of getting from Cebu to Tubigon assumes you are arriving at Cebu airport but you can still follow it even if you are not. Just get from where-ever you are to the pier.

Unless you are specifically going to somewhere near Tagbilaron, catching the ferry to Tubigon (IMO) is the better option. It is cheaper and faster. Also, Tubigon is a good place to explore the rest of Bohol with cheap accommodation and a decent little town in its own right.

From Cebu Airport to Pier One

From the airport catch a taxi to the port.

As you exit the airport take a right and take a short walk to the taxi rank.

People may offer you private cars etc, which you can take if you want. They are a fixed price depending on you destination and type of vehicle choice, but even the cheapest option is a tad more expensive than taking a metered taxi.

Another person will offer to get you a taxi and will ask for a tip. It seems to me that 20-50php is a decent tip for this service, seeing as you can just walk to the taxi yourself without him “guiding” you. The advantage is that you skip the line, so if the line is long it may be worth it for you. Make sure you have small change for the tip as I only had 100php. If the person approaches you to get you a taxi and you do not want it then just politely refuse and walk to the taxi rank your self. Another bonus of this guy is you can get good tips off him as he walks you over, including how much your ride should cost. He will also give you a little piece of paper with a number you can call if the taxi driver tries to do something dodgy on you.

The taxi from the airport to the port will cost you about 300php and takes about 30 minutes depending on traffic.

The Ferry to Tubigon

Once at the port you can catch the Star Ferry to Tubigon (Bohol). Ask the driver to drop you at the Star Ferry ticket office as it is not in the port like the rest of them.

Cebu to Tubigon and Visa Vera. Star Ferry also has one at 1145 and some other times. Price difference negligable (20php, unless you want business class.)

Recently OceanJet also started running trips from Cebu to Tubilon. They are not as frequent as Star Ferry (3x a day) but depending on the time you arrive it may be more convenient. The cost was 200php for an outside ticket. I recommend paying the extra 20php or so for an inside ticket as you are right on the motor when your outside and smog fills the area.

From what I recall from the time I caught Star Ferry from Tubigon to Cebu it was a more pleasant ride and the same price (200php fro the “cheap seats).

Both ferry’s take one hour.

The terminal fee in Cebu Port is 25 php.

Cebu Port has a couple of little snack shops and cafe’s, a blind duo playing music and you can even get a massage from the blind while you wait.
