Sometimes, when I see a book I'm interested in, I literally jump on it and buy it, then when I receive it, it might stay weeks/months on my shelf before I even start to read it because I just forget about it...
That's why I love Goodreads so much, because I put all my purchases and readings on it so I know what I actually have or want to buy, and what I need to start reading.
