Thanks for reading, and for your note--it looks lovely where you are! I should say that I've since found some lovely things in Cincy, (and neighboring Kentucky); these abandoned buildings were just the thing that surprised me the most at the onset, after coming from a place of rapid rebuild in NYC--maybe even too rapid, but I suppose that's a different essay!

I live in Southeast Ohio and it is nothing like what you are experiencing. We do have some buildings that are empty but they are up for sale not abandoned. We have mall walkers too. They can stay out of the weather and stay warm, cool or dry whichever season it is. Our fairgrounds and Rising Park get alot more walkers than the mall.
