Pip is here!

So it turns out that chasing after a newborn and recovering from a 40+ hour labor is kind of intense, and takes a lot of time–specifically, offline time. :) Pip is almost six weeks old now, though, and I’m feeling better and starting to get a vague clue of how this kid thing works. I totally get why maternity leaves are six weeks minimum though! It’s definitely that long before you can even think of something non-kid–and honestly, most of that is lack of sleep and learning curve. Public service announcement: support longer maternity leaves for everyone. And paternity too. With pay. It’s a necessity, not a luxury.

Pip was born in mid-December at 8 lbs 10 oz in great health. She’s kind of adorable–even the nurses at the hospital said so. Judge for yourself:

Anyway, that’s it for now. I’ll see you guys on the flip side! :)

Paul Martel Congratulations!!! As soon as I read her name, I was reminded of a favorite character of mine by Charles Dickens, Pip, in Great Expectations. Is her name related to that Pip? Anyway, I read some of your stories on the new Channels that Audible recently added, and I began to like your stories and thought that Alex was a guy. Oops! Well, in Great Expectations, Pip is a male character. What does it matter anyway? I love the name. There was one story in particular, I can't recall the title right now, but it was about this man who had mental abilities, worked as a consultant for the police, and had an addiction. In any case I found the characters appealing and the story interesting. So I looked up some other books by you and found Clean. I have read (listened to) twenty chapters, and I am enjoying it. A while back I read the entire canon of Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, and then I discovered Raymond Chandler and read several of his novels. Now, I have discovered your writing, and I am attracted to that particular one that I am reading now, and there are more stories to look forward to. Thank you for writing this type of story. I look forward to reading more of them.
