Fleshgod Apocalypse || Brutalizing sophisticated ears with new track ‘Gravity’
In a world where orchestral elements added to low-tuned guitars means Symphonic Black Metal, Metallica’s S&M, or over-melodic pretension, Fleshgod has managed to forget that milquetoast history and follow a path more akin to a modern orchestral composer (as do/have bands like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Mr Bungle, Shining Norway, John Zorn, Sonic Youth, the list of legends goes on). I mean this in the highest possible regard.
Fleshgod is more expansive, challenging, engaging, and brutal than any band in the metal arena needs to be by a factor of ten. That is to say: they could be ten times worse, and still have a solid following. Here’s one of my favorites tracks for those whose appetite has been whetted: Epilogue
