“The Ugly Cry” nominated for Best Small Fictions 2016

I tell with perfect honesty that my heart is spilling over with gratitude this past week. On the heels of a wonderful interview with Steph Post, I’ve learned this morning that my short story “The Ugly Cry” published last year at Blue Five Notebook has been nominated for Best Small Fictions 2016.

The nominating editors – Michelle Elvy and Sam Rasnake – are amazing people and amazing writers and poets in their own right. I swear my heart’s just swelled with thanks for both of them. I’m nearly speechless with the amount of love this week from my friends and talented colleagues.

Should you be interested in having a look at “The Ugly Cry” read the story here. It was published as one of five stories Blue Five published of mine as the featured author that month, so you’ll need to scroll down the page to find the story. Or read them all. Better yet, read as much of Blue Five Notebook as you can while there. Bookmark it. Visit it often.
