Do you have any advice for young aspiring writers who don't get great grades in English and aren't particularly great at writing? I'm so passionate about poetry but I only get just above average when my writing is graded which isn't good enough to be great

The kind of writing you do in English class and the kind of writing you do outside of it are two entirely different animals. It’s completely normal to be good at creative writing and bad at academic writing. You don’t have to be top of your English class to be a writer. All you have to do to be a writer is write.

If you’re passionate about it, nothing can take that away from you. Not even mediocre grades.
