Air Filled with Change

An hour before Gidget’s veterinarian appointment where we would learn she had aggressive cancer, I sat here at my laptop and wrote a blog entry about how I would be making changes in the amount of postings in the future. Gidget lay on the floor to the left of me, her favorite spot on a small orange and yellow rug that I bought as a sample from a sale at Room & Board outside Chicago.

Since the new year, I have had a sense that it’s time to shake some things up in my life. And when Gidget died, it was only confirmation that change is in the air; more that I need to make change to see change happen.

In the coming months, we will be making changes to this web site and to my Chef Chelle site. As Chelle Summer becomes a larger part of my work, we are looking at how to incorporate all I do into one lifestyle brand. At this point, too much of my time is spending in several places and I need to find ways to make things simpler because I can’t go to the ATM and purchase more time to my day.

A larger portion of my time needs to be consumed by sewing and writing, particularly my fiction. At some point I might write more memoir-type books but for now I have several fiction projects I’d like to complete. While I tried to expand my speaking and life coaching, none of that panned out and I’m going to focus instead on inspiring people through action: what I create.

I have learned over the past year that people are more inspired by what I share through photos, whether it be what I create or what I have found. I never thought much of my style beyond surrounding myself with things that make me happy. And making me feel good (dogs included!).

But writing fiction is also who I am and there will be at least one novel this year although I’m not sure of the time frame yet. However, this also means I will be scaling back on the blogging, probably to once a week (Mondays), and maybe a second day (Wednesdays).

I’ve had too many lessons about how life is short and fragile. If I’m truly to inspire people then I should do it through action, showing what I do that makes me happy. And what inspires me.
