Works and Days
December was a good month for me, and January is looking like it will be good as well. Right now I am concentrating on setting up my various social media fan pages and making sure I have content for all of them. I'm also working on a personal site and a mailing list. Fans will be able to sign up for the list and (I promise never to spam you) I can send you coupon codes to use on my books over at Smashwords. I will also send out first chapters of my books from time to time so you'll have a chance to read my writing before everyone else. So hurrah for mailing lists.
I'm also working on two new novels due this spring. But I haven't put words to paper with either of them since the end of December. That has to change. My first two rules of writing are: 1. treat writing like a career; if you treat it like a hobby that you only do when the muse descends that is all it will ever be. 2. finish what you write. All the fears and anxiety about how good your writing are will fade away two or three months later when you finish and you won't remember when you were inspired and when you weren't.
I have about a dozen rules for writing that I've worked out over the years. I'll post them here later this week if my website is not up. Until then, thanks for reading!
