also Modern John on the plane doesn’t see that Sherlock’s high, to the point where when Mycroft demands Sherlock hand over a list of what he’s taken, John tries to defend him and say it isn’t drugs, which is when Sherlock throws the list over. Shortly after Sherlock hears Victorian John asking “Morphine or cocaine?” but thought it was Modern John saying it – this is because he wants it to have been his real John noticing, he wants John to notice he’s relapsed hard, he wants John to push him about it, he wants it SO badly that it’s the trigger that allows him to slip back into his fantasy where there’s a John who is going to inquisition him about it
This is an interesting point, and very sad. It’s so weird to me that John doesn’t get more upset and in sherlocks face about the drugs on the plane. And it must have felt really wrong to Sherlock. So wrong that his heart pulled him back into his mind palace just so he could fix it and have John giving him he’ll about taking drugs.
Like, he couldn’t bear that John didn’t seem to care anymore.
