Belfast exhibitions. GROUPSHOW
Re-positioning the notion of privacy within the slippages and misreadings of history and interpersonal relationships, ‘G R O U P S H O W’ questions the legitimacy of the group show-format as a potential space for productive exchange.
Acknowledging a tendency in artists to deny they are part of something recognised and defined by others, the exhibition seeks to offer up an alternative mode of representation within an initially restrictive curatorial format.
The attempt to work is the work itself. Unresolved is the better way; a series of loose connections that seem to work together – or will do for now.
The exhibition is more or less the result of the sum of all these parts.
Curated by Phillip McCrilly.
Stuart Calvin; Christopher Campbell; Erin Hagan; Brónach McGuiness; Sinead McKeever; Paul Moore; Sharon Murphy; John Rainey; Michael Sheppard.
Supported by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
