What I wouldn't give for a look inside your mind! How do you DO that, keep coming up with story after story in such quick succession, and all of them so wonderfully on-target with plot and characters and pacing? May a thousand dachshunds cuddle up to you f

Heh, well, we all process the new canon differently, hey? For me, it’s just how I work out my own thoughts. I used to always say that I write my meta in the form of fiction, and it’s basically true. I also write smatterings of meta, but it’s not at all what I’m known for in any way and that’s fine! I just write and write and write and unravel my own reflections and whatnot that way. It’s like therapy for me, lol! I mean, I’m not over series 3 yet - I’m still writing stories to try to make sense of that in my mind, or try to write different possible futures based on that information.

Fanfic comes in three specific genres: insertion scenes (aka a scene which takes place during the canon and fits with canonical fact), extension scenes (fics which continue past the last known point of canon) and alternate universe (fics which do not bear canon fact in mind but which may use certain events or alternate forms of said events from the canon, using the same characterisations to the greatest extent possible). I write almost exclusively extension fic, which is the most common genre, with the exception of HLV-based fics that take place within the missing six months. So basically, any new canon means new possible futures and it’s like my vocation in life to write as many possible believable stories about Sherlock and John finally getting together. :P Part of the point, for me, is that no matter what happens, there will always be a way for these two to get past whatever obstacles are in their past. There will always be multiple ways, and it’s my joy as a fanfic creator to keep looking for ways that fit with the canon and fit with their personalities. I’m really glad you think they’re in character and that the plots and pacing work! That’s just so nice to hear! :)))

A thousand dachshunds at a sushi picnic would be both a) death by yipping and b) death by cuteness!!! I can’t even handle the thought of that many dachshunds in one place!!! Omg! :)))))))))
