Crookston — Attend a meeting on the scale of Friday's Red River Valley spring flood preparation gathering hosted by U.S. Sen. Al Franken at the University of Minnesota, Crookston, and it's impossible not to pick up on the theme in cities up and down and across the Red River Basin over the past several years: Everyone is sick of fighting back high water every year, with mixed success. Everyone is "tired," they're "weary" and, most notably, they're especially nervous about a 2011 spring flood fight that could be one of the most stressful of all.
