
“Work sets you free.” The slogan of all Nazi concentration camps. This one was in Sachsenhausen. Dubbed “the most beautiful” concentration camp and a model for all the future camps to follow. A few meters in front of those two big trees is where the gallows used to be. Nazis would hang inmates in the morning during roll call to “set an example” for others, even for being late, and would often leave the bodies to hang for the rest of the day.
